Games Information

The 2012 United We Stand Games will be held over the weekend of the 13th and 14th October.

The events will be held at, amongst other venues, Gateway Shopping Centre, Umhlanga, Durban and will run over both days from 9am Saturday up until 5pm Sunday.


Teams will be made up of 6 with 3 men and 3 women in each team.


The UWS Games 2012 is strictly for registered CrossFit affiliates who are affiliated to CrossFit Inc.


For those entering, please be aware that their will be a full mix of requirements.  Skill, strength, power and endurance will be needed throughout your team.


Entry for the games is R1500 per team.


Entry for spectators is free for the whole weekend



The competition

It is the responsibility of the team and its members to be where they need to be at the time of their heat. 

Please take note of the event start times and the time YOUR heat starts.  We are on a very tight schedule which will try and stick to it as best we can.  To do this we need you ready and waiting to enter the competition arena when we call you

NOTE - REEBOK CROSSFIT DURBS WILL BE PROVIDING THE GYM FOR WARM UP.  WE WILL HAVE A SECURITY GUARD ON THE FRONT DOOR AND OFFICIALS IN THE GYM AREA BUT IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE INDIVIDUAL TO KEEP VALUABLES SAFE.  INTEGRATED FITNESS, REEBOK AND ASSOCIATED GYMS WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MISLAID VALUABLES.  PLEASE KEEP VIGILANT AND MAKE AN OFFICIAL AWARE IF YOU FEEL THERE IS SOMEONE IN THE GYM THAT SHOULDN'T BE THERE.


THE COMPETITION ARENA IS SITUATED INSIDE GATEWAY SHOPPING CENTRE.  THEY HAVE THEIR OWN SECURITY AND CAMERAS BUT PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOUR VALUABLES.  TRY NOT TO BRING VALUABLES TO THE COMPETITION ARENA AND IF YOU ARE SPECTATING THEN BE MINDFUL OF PICK POCKETS.  THE COMPETITION ARENA IS CORDONED OFF BUT SPECTATORS WILL BE STANDING IN GENERAL PUBLIC AREAS.


EXTREMELY IMPORTANT - The Amashova bike race is on the Sunday.  Lots of roads are closed from 04:00am in the morning right through to the afternoon.

Please look at the site here and make a note of the roads closures here.

You essentially won't be able to get down the M13 from Hillcrest or Westville and if you are staying in Bothas Hill you won't get out of your road.  Please make arrangements to stay in Durban where possible and make a note of the roads that are closed there too.

FRIDAY


Registration at Reebok CrossFit Durbs, shop G350 Palm Boulevard, Gateway Shopping Centre, Umhlanga, Durban

Time – 16:00pm – 22:00pm

All teams must report for registration by 22:00pm.  Team captains only to register with official at the registration desk.  Team captain will need to confirm team name, team members and if not already provided by email, provide signed health documents that were sent by Integrated Fitness.

Each team will receive a tee shirt for each team member inline with sizes given by captain.  They will also receive a program and one parking ticket per team per day for Gateway parking.

EVERY team needs to register on the Friday evening.

When registering please make a note of where the competition arena is so you are comfortable for Saturday

SATURDAY

First event kicks off at 07:45am at Holla trails.  All teams and team memebrs need to register on Saturday morning between 7:15am-7:30am.  Anyone registering after this time will not race in the first event and they will receive maximum points for this event.

SUNDAY

The first event kicks off at 8am and we are looking to finish the last event around 16:00pm with presentations around 16:15pm.

THE AFTER PARTY - 19:00pm start

The after party is at Joe Cools.  If your name's not down - you know the rest.  Those competitors that have given us theiur names and any partners that are attending, will get in for free.  Anyone else must pay R50 entry.  Food is not being supplied this year so please make provisions to eat before the after party.  They do not serve food in the evening.

Scoring

All event scoring details are beneath the event itself.


Overall scoring.

The overall scoring will be worked on first place taking 1 point, second taking 2 etc.  The team with the least number of points after the weekend will be the winners.  In the event of a tie it will be tracked back to all placing's added together and least score wins.  If it is still a tie then it goes to total number of wins and if it’s still a tie after that it will go to fastest time for last event.

Medical

We will have a medic for the full 2 days.  
We will have a physio on hand both days.  The physio will be working 1 hour on and 1 hour off and will assist in an emergency.  The physio is there for injuries and ailments,  they are not there to see how much flesh they can cover with funny coloured tape.  They are also not there to massage all day.  If you have a serious issue see the physios.
